My Wheels

I like collecting wheels for their own beauty and uniqueness. As many second-hand wheels are at a price I can sell on if I don't like a few have been "trialled" more than bought it you will.
Current Wheel Stable has: 9 Wheels (10/6/2017)
I am tally those I have had multiples of!
Wee Peggy: 4
Travellers: 3
Traditionals: 3
Suzie: 3
Rose: 2

1. Ashford Traditional  (August 2015) Single Drive/Single Treadle) I didn't use this one much as my wheel windfall came soon afterwards and I quickly learnt about other wheels and what I wanted.
This is now SOLD. As with your first wheel, it is always has a place in my heart. However as I learnt more I knew it wasn't the right type for me. Kept the Niddy Noddy and two drop spindles.

2. Sheridan Celtic – (August 2015) Double Drive/Single Treadle
Initially kept throwing its drive band, but after adjusting the Mother of All spun fine. However, after the struggle to fix and being too heavy for my joints long term I wasn't too attached to it.
This is now SOLD – I loved the look of this wheel however, it wasn't one I could travel with easily as it was a bit delicate and was a heavy wheel. When I have my own place I will keep an eye out for a decorative one :)

3. Wee Peggy – (August 2015) Double Drive/Single Treadle
Made in 1986 (my birth year) in Dunedin (my previous choice of uni for PhD), sold by a lady who had a story for selling that linked in with my PhD topic (sleep in caregivers). Can be set up in either double or single drive however, is missing the tension knob so can only go double for the moment. Came with 4 bobbins
This is now sold as of 31/7/2016. As attached to her as I was she never really moved from the corner of my room. She went to a new spinner in another state.

4. Ashford Traveller  (August 2015) Dual Drive/Double Treadle

My "family" wheel, in that my sister purchased it and my dad purchased the jumbo bobbin. Sold to me by a lovely spinner from the facebook group who I am still in contact with. Beautifully kept well and one I would never sell. If I Ever had issues with space I would make a family member keep it. I have it set up in double drive all the time but can go single drive with scotch tensioning system. Now has a Distaff installed. Came with several bobbins (DD and SD) and single drive jumbo flyer/bobbin. The jumbo bobbin was sold on and replaced with double drive jumbo flyer/bobbin.
This was sold early 2017 without the distaff and jumbo flyer.

5. Ashford Traditional – (August 2015) Dual Drive/Single Treadle
This was a workhorse who did what I wanted when I wanted. I was going to decorate it. However for some reasons I can't quite remember decided I wasn't going to keep it. I would recommend this type of wheel easily for new spinners, especially with the dual drive to allow spinners to learn and try easily.
This is now SOLD – I thought a double drive might endear me. I won the bid on eBay before the Traveller finalised. Sold to a new spinner who had used an Ashford before and this was her Xmas present. Came with some bobbins and lazy kate which were sold on with the wheel

6. Inwood ESpinner – (October 2015) Scotch Tension
This is a great little wheel built by an Australian manufacturer. However, I do dislike the way the it is set up (the balance with the flyer sticking out. If I had the chance to get a different eSpinner I would. Came with 3 bobbins and also bought a blending board.
This is now sold in early 2017

7. Majacraft Suzie – (November 2015) Single Drive/Double Treadle
Lovely little wheel. Excellent spinner. Uses scotch tension. I will be setting this one up for lace spinning by adding a high-speed head and lace flyer to get high ratios and take advantage of the scotch tensions love of lace. Came with 8 bobbins, a little wheely device for moving it and a large amount of wool.
This was swapped for a newer Suzie. My friend now has this exact wheel

8. Ashford Elizabeth  (December 2015) Dual Drive/Single Treadle

Another wheel that was set up as a double drive, but had a scotch tension system available. While lovely under all the dust had a bit of a squeak when treadling (later found out a bit of wax would have got rid of it). Not as brilliant as the Celtic in looks and spin, but had the dual drive option.
This is now SOLD – Same issues as the Celtic. Wheel too heavy for a single treadle on my joints. Kept the Niddy Noddy, and wool. Gave the spinning chair, wool winder and metal Skiener to a spinning friend as I already had those items). Sold the Ashford Mini drum carder as already had a larger drum carder.

9. Ashford Traveller – (January 2016) Dual Drive/Single Treadle
Picked this one up on the same day I sold the Elizabeth. It came with 4 double drive bobbins and the entire wheel was selling for the same price as purchasing 4 double drive bobbins for my other Traveller. So this is a project wheel I am going to decorate. Came with a wooden Skiener and 4 bobbins.
This came up a treat with a wax and was sold to a friend early 2017

10. Majacraft Aura – (1st of February 2016) Double Drive/Double Treadle
My Baby! While listed as a double drive the Aura is a unique double drive system. Can only say loving it so much! Came with 3 Bobbins

11. Little Peggy – (February 2016) – Dual Drive/Single Treadle 1980's wheel. Accidentally bought, very much like the Wee Peggy, so wasn't worth keeping two wheels of such similar identity. Came with 4 Bobbins
This got SOLD in a week. Was too similar to my Peggy and needed some TLC I wasn't really wanting to do. Kept the Niddy Noddy

12. Vintage Dutch Merkelbach - (May 2016) - Double Drive. I have been eyeing off these weird little wheels for awhile and saw one come up for a decent price. So took a gamble. Came with 4 tiny bobbins. This wheel also has an attached lazy kate and skeiner.

This got sold in a month to my spinning teacher who was very enamoured when I brought it for show-and-tell. More so than I was, so I sold if for what I paid (which was little) and now I see every time I walk into the shop!

This section may not be completely in order of acquisition
13. Unknown Wheel - (December 2016) - Unusual wheel by a mystery Sydney maker. Strangely the maker is unrelated to the Sydney spindle maker of the same last name....for $25 I thought I would just grab it and see.

14. Flax Wheel (Early 2017) - This cute little wheel had a distaff so I grabbed it. A nice long drive to Canberra! The seller later contacted me because he also found a little spinning wheel model and sent me that too!
Sold early 2017 - Was not using and was going through a major destash to buy the Majacraft fusion engine. When I was spinning to ensure it was good and sending videos I started getting attached to it. Told new owner I would take it back if she didn't like it lol.

14. Ashford Traveller - (Early 2017) - Yes another traveller (Double Drive and Double Treadle) that is exactly like the one I had. I saw this just as I was about to go to Canberra for the Flax wheel. This is the newest version of the Traveller. I decided to keep this one as I like the colour of the lacquer (the other was more golden).

15. Majacraft Suzie (Early 2017) - Another double up. A friend in another state saw this wheel and asked if I could get it for a finders fee. I agreed I would if I could choose which one I wanted as the finders fee. I met the most lovely spinner who was selling this for a friend and got to see a lot of spinning history. I chose to keep this one as the shorter shaft suited my woolee winder. mI also replaced the metal knob with a newer wooden one.

16. Electric Eel Wheel (Early 2017) - I had seen the earlier version when I first started research e-spinners and really wished I had backed it. So when version 5 came up I had to grab it! So was backer 25.

17. Majacraft Suzie (Early 2017) This was found in quite a state with another wheel and a lot of fleece. I stripped this wheel right back and got to marvel about how you can bring a wheel back to life. I bought this to repair and sell.
Sold early 2017

18. Rappard Wee Peggy (Early 2017) - This came with the previously mentioned Suzie and is missing the flyer and also in quite a state. Currently being kept for parts. Already stole a part for another Peggy.

19. Rappard Wee Peggy (Early 2017) - Got at a great price and the money was going to charity. Scrubbed up and sold on.
Sold early 2017

20. Majacraft Rose (Mother's day 2017) - Finally got my hands on a Rose wheel. Travelled from Canberra and got picked up on a very rainy Mother's Day. Beautifully looked after from another spin who upgraded to a newer Rose.

21. Majacraft Rose (May 2017) - This came up the day I was going to buy my other Rose. So I bought it a few days later.
Good condition, but not as young as the other Rose so sold on June 2017

22. Rappard Wee Peggy (May 2017) - Up for sale for cheap by a non-spinner. Went and grabbed it for a clean up and sell.
Sold June 2017 - almost regretfully as I liked spinning this one when testing

23. Ashford Traditional (May 2017) - I had been meaning to get one I could decorate, so when I saw one for $50 in good nick I grabbed it. This one I want to sand right back and stain purple! decorate with wood burning etc.

24. Spinolution King Bee (June 2017) - Bought my birthday week. A fellow collector let me know this was on Ravelry and I went running. It was interstate and I got my friend who has my old Suzie to grab and post.

Wanted Wheels
Obviously, I have dream wheels that are way out of my Price range like Golding and Olympic Wheels. So these are more practical ones on the list.
